WELCOME EX-ICE!
It is good to see you on here.
sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum, but i'm at work and don't have time to search...i'm having a discussion (argument) with my jw hubby about the location of the great crowd.
we've looked at rev.
4 through 7 and he agrees with me that everything is in heaven "before the throne" until we get to the great crowd... does anyone have any easy-to-understand comments on this subject?
WELCOME EX-ICE!
It is good to see you on here.
has anyone noticed when reading the new world translation, that there are numerous dashes where scriptures are supposed to be?
you look through, find the number, but instead of the text there is a dash.
and, when you question it, all they say is that the king james version had a "spurious" scripture there.. the real reason was that, wherever a scripture that blatantly undermined the watchtower society appears, they deleted it.
Yes, I did notice the dash for missing scriptures, then I readt a book that has three different bibles with the scriptures that were missing and why.
I did not read every single NWT scripture with dashes only the NT.
I know that the King James had many errors and people tried to correct their bibles by figuring out which verses should be in the bible and which was spurious writings. Why the errors, because monks had to translate scriptures and when they came across a scripture that did not fit with Catholic doctrines they would add in something to make it fit.
What is interesting is that there are many well educated and trained individuals going through old manuscripts to see if it fits or not. Unlike the WTBTS who probably do not have the training to read such documents.
You know they always borrow from the world and call it new light, but when they error then it is old light!
WtWizard! As far as that scripture about not adding to Revelation, What do you think about people who add in thoughts between scriptures such as Revelation It's Grand Climax Is At Hand? Do you consider this adding to the scriptures? I do.

Thanks Lady Liberty!
Mrs. Witness, Just for fun, I think your dealing with an earthly vision. The 144,000 are sealed (past tense) not like the Jehovah Witness think that they are still sealing the 144,000. I think that the Great Crowd received their white robes but are not sealed and they will be added to the number of 144,000 and the souls under the alter in Rev 6. As far as I am concerned, below is an answer to the souls under the alter in Rev 6.
Earthly
Rev 7: 1 After this I saw four angels standing upon the four corners of the earth
3 saying: “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the slaves of our God in their foreheads.”
4 "And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:"
9 "After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number,"
Rev6: 9 And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the witness work that they used to have.
The souls asked a question and the received a reply:
Rev 6: 11 And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number was filled also of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were about to be killed as they also had been.
After chapter 7, I am not too sure where they are! maybe they are under the alter with the other souls. There really is not enough information from these scriptures to prove anything but they are on earth receiving white robes and getting sealed. Although later , I do not think the great crowd, earthly group, is rendering sacred service day and night on the earth because that's would be a lot of hours! and I am getting tired.
There is something about the Revelation 19:1
There is also something else about the prayers! I get back to you.
last week, a jw friend of mine brought over a september k.m.
he wanted to read what was the topic from the k.m.
that i was wondering about.
Some People just can't see between the lines of the society. Who does that elder think he is to say someone can not read from their own bible.
I would have reacted!
Maybe some people just can't see the avitar(ERRORS) even if it is pointed out to them.
What is the big deal about that scripture? NONE! so it must be a control issue!

Revelation 5:10 NWT version (24 elders, 144,00) on the earth or over the earth?
10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”
Revelation 5:10 (King James Version)
10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 5:10 (Wycliffe New Testament)
10 and madest us a kingdom, and priests to our God; and we shall reign on earth.
Revelation 5:10 (Young's Literal Translation)
10and didst make us to our God kings and priests, and we shall reign upon the earth.' At least it not over the earth.
Revelation 7:15 (King James Version)
Great Crowd in a heavenly temple15Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
Revelation 7:15 (English Standard Version)
15"Therefore they are before the throne of God,NWT Great Crowd in his temple? Eathly or heavenly? YHWH temple?
15 That is why they are before the throne of God; and they are rendering him sacred service day and night in his temple; and the One seated on the throne will spread his tent over them.
According to the WTBTS 24 elders are the 144,000 who will be up in heavens with Jesus and judging mankind.
Many bibles say on the earth!
Great Crowd should be down on the earth but it looks like they might be in (YHWH) temple unless you consider YHWH temple Bethel.
On the earth,over the earth!
In his temple? or in his earthly temple?
nwt has for philippians 3:11.
" [to see] if i may attain to the earlier resurrection from the dead.".
the greek doeas not contain the word "earlier" - nor does any other translation i checked.
WOW! why would they put in the word earlier? It does not make any sense!
I have many bibles and compared reading NWT to them and I am not happy with the NWT.
It is easier to read but somethings are distorted such as an earlier resurrection? I just do not get it!
Is this writing about an anticipation of the resurrection? A personal hope of the resurrection!
Sorry! I see that everyone has done such a good job researching this topic out! It really does help to read the discussion.
Eventhough Roth bible has "earlier" inserted it does not make sense to the context as to what Paul expressed.

Ezekiel 25:19
frequently i have seen the subject of borderlind personallity disorder mentioned on this board.
many people here feel that friends or relatives display many of the charactaristics of the disorder.
people with histories of abuse seem to be drawn to this religion.
I think they abuse their members and members sit there and put up with it.
YES! it is called long term spiritual abuse! and it is so strange that most ex probably have a hard time fitting into most main stream church doctrines.
Because, Trinity is not a three headed false god. It is about Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, so how is it a false godhead man made idol.
Now, that is spiritual abuse! Jehovah's Witness take one of the most debated concepts and twisted it and compare it to a man made idol. Does not fit!
I do not believe in Trinity! but this is spiritual abuse and twisted? I say Yes to your question.
19but a certain man was rich, and he used to deck himself with purple and linen, enjoying himself from day to day with magnificence.20but a certain beggar named laz arus used to be put at his gate, full of ulcers21and desiring to be filled with the things dropping from the table of the rich man.
yes, too, the dogs would come and lick his ulcers.22now in course of time the beggar died and he was carried off by the angels to the bosom [position] of abraham.. also, the rich man died and was buried.23and in ha des he lifted up his eyes, he existing in torments, and he saw abraham afar off and laz arus in the bosom [position] with him.24so he called and said, father abraham, have mercy on me and send laz arus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because i am in anguish in this blazing fire.. my old account does not seem to be working, so i am not a new member but i did not post loads anyway.
i am an now an athiest myself but anytime i ask jws about a scripture they say its pointless discussing it with me becuase i am only doing it to tear them down.
Please see this earlier post of mine which shows how the concept of postmortem fiery torment in this parable fits into the scope of early Jewish and Christian writings. It was practically a leitmotif in the apocalyptic literature as well as references to it elsewhere in admonitions and the like: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/134604/2396862/post.ashx#2396862
Did anyone else read Leo, earlier post? It really has a lot of detail and worth noting. I will need to print this old post out!
Well how many WT did people read where they quoted from other books and said it explained historical events but was not inspired by God? I found the book of Enoch in I believe Eternal Life book that I studied. and Macabees was explain it was historical. So she might have something worth reading!
modernity - nietzsche's prophetic age of nihilism:.
we have come to know that the bible can not be taken literally anymore.
we have come to know that the unity of the bible is a myth.
Christains come to know Yahweh through Jesus Christ and that is from the HOLY SCRIPTURES from the Bible, and not the ancient hermetic viewpoints.
And we come to know that only Jesus can judge your heart.
I ll pray that you will see threw those writings and turn you life back around.
Go in peace.
